Before you even start addressing the problem of a high foot arch, you need to check whether you actually have the problem. To do this, you need the wet test. Start by dipping your feet in some cold water and then standing on a surface where it will show up. If you’ve done it right, you should see an imprint of your foot on the floor. If you have a very narrow band of water connecting the front of the foot and back then you probably have a high arch problem, and your feet may supinate when you run.

You want to buy a pair that have a lot of flexibility, as this will allow the feet to rotate inwards to a greater extent which is important. The issue with a highly arched foot is that because it doesn’t pronate there is not much shock absorption. Obviously, this is a recipe for an injury over time, especially if you spend a lot of time running on hard surfaces such as roads or very dry mud.
