One symptom that patients complains is pain. In this disease, pain is felt all over the body, as the immune system perceive the tissues as foreign, therefore eliciting an inflammatory response. To alleviate the pain felt, Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs or NSAIDS are given. This groups of drug comes in different generics like aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, etoricoxib, to name a few. These drugs are relatively cheap and are available over the counter. The category that will help lessen joint pains, lung problems, and even fatigue is the use of Disease-Modifying, Anti-Rheumatic Drugs or DMARDS. The significant role of this medication is in its interaction to the immune system and the protection it could give against the sunlight.

When the disease has already spread into different organs, then Cytotoxics are used to lessen the symptoms. Though, as all medications has side effects, it could cause anemia, and even worst, cancer.
