There are many different ways to lose weight and enjoy greater health. As an example, many people follow a low-carbohydrate diet to help them lose weight. On the flip side, Health Magazine has recently published a Carbohydrate Lover’s Diet, which has also been a runaway success. The reality is that a healthy eating plan is any eating plan that you can stick to long term. For most people, simple clean eating is what makes sense.
Eating clean does not require that you follow any sort of special plan. You don’t have to count calories or stay away from an entire food group. You don’t even have to use special recipes – although they can be helpful. What you do have to do is focus on eating clean whole foods. Generally speaking this involves shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store. This can also involve a trip to the bulk bins at your local health store to pick up things like quinoa, chick peas and black beans.
The idea is to stay away from anything that is processed, and focus on putting good foods that actually benefit your body into your mouth. Foods that have long ingredient lists filled of things that you cannot pronounce are not part of a clean diet. These human made ingredients are not considered clean because they typically provide no benefit to your body.
So, what exactly can you expect to enjoy when you eat clean? Fruits and vegetables are very high on the list as well as lean protein. Because quinoa is one of the best sources of vegetable protein around – and one of the few plant based foods that offers your body a complete protein source – things like quinoa salad and stir fry are great staples. A black bean recipe is also great because they offer your body an abundance of both protein and fiber.
