Top Acne Myths

Acne is one of the biggest issues going for many people growing up and can even stay with people as they grow older. One of the reasons it is such a big deal is because it is a highly visable condition and often knocks the confidence of the person suffering from it.

In reality though, this worry is all unnecessary. There has been a lot of research put into what causes acne and how to combat it, a lot of it is rather unclear and sometimes contradictory but it is possible to find quality information on how to prevent acne and how to get rid of acne scars.

But aside from knowing how to prevent acne, it is also important to know what some of the most wide-spread myths are as they are often believed and make the recovery process longer.

1. Acne is caused by eating too much chocolate.

This is one of the most famous myths regarding acne and it causes a lot of confusion as it is widely misinterpreted. Ultimately diet does effect acne but not in the way most people are led to believe. Eating foods such as chocolate won’t cause you outbreaks on it’s own, but the lack of quality nutrients and other essentials such as vitamins and minerals will weaken your body’s ability to eliminate toxins. This is why i would recommend acne suffers to start taking a multivitamin as well as other supplements such as zinc and large amounts of vitamin C.

2. Medicated Face Wipes Can Help Cure Acne

This is another myth that is often misinterpreted by suffers. There is a huge market for products such as medicated face wipes and creams (many of which featuring ingredients such as salicylic acid) and they do work but more often than not their harsh ingredients are damaging to your skin itself. They also fail to address the root cause of the condition and merely act as a band-aid. Again, this is reason for a more natural approach to healing acne.
