It’s very important that as we get older, we take a little more caution to the care of our joints and muscles during physical activity. When we were young, we usually never even thought about just taking off and jogging or enjoying a pick-up game of basketball with out any warm-ups first. As we age, our muscles and joints are more brittle and require a little extra care. All it takes are a few nagging injuries and we can truly appreciate the fact that we need to take a little more effort towards the care of our body.
Just a few weeks ago, this happened to me and now I can only wish I had paid a little more attention to warming up instead of just jumping into my exercise routine. I’m usually very careful by nature. I would never jump into a pickup basketball game or take off on a jog without a proper warm up. Unfortunately I did just that recently. I went hiking on some local mountain bike trails near my home. I drove up, got out of my car and started a pretty strenuous hike. I had no problems at all until I was through. Later that evening, I noticed a dull aching pain in my right knee but I shrugged it off. Well, the pain would not go away after several days. And now, 2 months later, the pain in my knee still persists.
I will most likely go to the doctor because I’m tired of messing with it and I’d like to get back to my workouts. In the meantime, I’ve done some research on using a magnetic knee support. There are a lot of people who deal with painful knees who swear by the healing power of magnetism. I feel I don’t have anything to lose at this point, so I’m going to make a purchase myself. I’m experiencing some pain in my knee especially in the mornings, so I’m planning on also buying a knee support pillow. I think it will be helpful to my healing if I can take some weight off my leg with the knee pillow. I hope all of this will help me to avoid a trip to the doctor.
