Everybody knows that eating well is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. Eating well should be fun, but unfortunately for many people “health food” conjures up images of tasteless and difficult to eat foods like raw vegetables, grains and other unappetizing things. Health practitioners are always telling us to include more fruit and vegetables in our diets, and below are some easy tips that anybody can follow to quickly improve their daily diet.
The obvious thing to do of course, is to eat more vegetables. It is actually very easy to incorporate more greenery into your diet, because vegetables are quite easy to cook. Perhaps the fastest, and in fact the healthiest way to cook vegetables is in a steamer. You can simply steam vegetables in a colander on the stove, or you could buy a dedicated counter top steaming cooker, which can also be used to cook other foods. Steaming preserves many of the original nutrients and vitamins in the vegetables, and it is possible to have your meal cooked in a very short time.
Another method to eat more vegetables is to select your foods carefully, picking those which can easily be eaten raw. Raw vegetables might not sound very good, but you could try making more salads. For example you can easily grate carrots, celery, and many other vegetables and combine them with a simple dressing to make interesting and light side dishes. Eating raw vegetables like this is probably the healthiest thing to do, because you’re preserving all the goodness that is in the food.
Finally, how about making fresh juice instead of eating vegetables? You will need to buy a juicer machine, something like the Angel juicer would be ideal. Alternatively, you could opt for a simple an inexpensive hand juicer which will require a bit more work, but will cost a lot less and still get the job done.
If you implement one or two of these guidelines, you can easily incorporate a lot more healthy food into your diet. Eating well should not have to be expensive or difficult, all it takes is a bit of innovation and commitment.
