Perhaps you can relate to this scenario: For some reason, you end up getting into a workplace conflict. Thus, waking up in the in the morning and reporting to work is a struggle. You cannot concentrate on your job because of your fear of attack and confrontation. You cannot eat well. You are always under stress. By the time you get up, you have a massive headache and cannot sleep properly. After all, when you wake up, it is going to be work all over again.

Never discount the body’s ability to manifest your negative emotions. You have to remember that the entire body is made up of thousands of interconnected nerves all going to the brain. Whatever you think and feel, the brain delivers to the other parts of the body. The subconscious mind is somewhat dependent with the conscious mind and takes and follows orders directly from it.

Negative emotions can increase the stress level. When you are under stress, the body releases certain kinds of hormones called cortisol or adrenaline. This is the reason why you feel so pumped up once the deadline of a project draws near.

However, what you do not know is it can also have very serious negative impact, such as increase in blood pressure, boost in blood sugar, and a change in digestion. People who are under stress therefore tend to suffer from constipation, abdominal pain, and gastric ulcer. It is also not good for those who have diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

According to American Psychological Association, stress can make someone temporarily infertile. Women would experience irregular menstruation while men may experience reduction in sperm count.

How Healing Meditation Helps

Fifty percent of physician consultations are usually related to stress, which can be because of extreme pressure or pent-up emotions. Simply put, the cause is something you can control. One of the best ways to deal with them is through healing meditation.

Healing meditation is no different from the typical meditation. The only difference is that you have a more specific goal–that is, get rid of the illnesses and symptoms. Through meditation, you allow your body to go into its most relaxed state, thus relieving all your nerves of the tension. It brings down your stress level and reduces the creation and release of stress hormones.

Meditation also gives you an opportunity to become more aware of the negative emotions and release them. A basic principle of meditation is dwelling in the now. That means whatever negative experiences you encountered in the past, they no longer need to have a degree of importance today.
