Choosing an outfit to exercise in should not be a difficult task. Unfortunately many people spend more time deciding how to exercise and what they will wear than actually exercising. There are a number of great types of outfits, from yoga clothes to spandex running suits, but it really depends on what exercises you are planning to do and what you feel comfortable wearing.
Home-based workouts and cheap outfits
If you are planning to work out from home there is no reason to spend a lot of money on what you wear, as long as it is comfortable. Pop in a yoga dvd and toss on a pair of cheap yoga pants with any shirt and you have yourself a great workout outfit.
Yoga clothes are usually a little more form fitting than other outfits, as they are typically made from spandex or lycra. The benefit of this is that they have a great range of motion and are able to do whatever your body can do. It is possible to spend hundreds of dollars on brand name yoga pants, but you can easily find cheaper alternatives for a fraction of the price.
Running outside and preparing for the weather
If your choice of exercise is running or jogging outside you might need something a little warmer. Although in the summer months you can usually get away with a pair of sport shorts, you might want to consider a pair of cotton jogging pants, nylon running pants, or if you are comfortable with them, spandex running pants. Cotton pants will breathe much better than their nylon alternative but if staying warm is your concern you might want to consider the nylon or spandex.
It does not have to be difficult to choose an outfit to exercise in as long as you know what the type of exercises will be. It is important not to wear something that you are not comfortable with as it will distract you from exercising and defeat the purpose.
