Fundamentally, what is Sciatica? It is usually from a mild to intense pain in the lower back of the body. It occurs when there is a pressure or compression in the sciatic nerve also known as ischiatic nerve, a single long largest and widest nerve in a human body, the nerve is attached from the lower back through the lower limb and up to the buttock. This nerve supplies the whole back muscles of the foot, leg and thigh, and including the major skin part of the leg. The spinal nerves that involved are from L4 through S3, which contains fibers from the posterior and anterior part of the lumbosacral plexus.
The majority common causes of sciatica are trauma or spinal tumors, lumbar spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome and the lumbar bulging or herniated disc.
Here are some sciatica treatment selections you can do to relieve the pain:

Medication regimens- most doctors prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) to treat sciatica. Also an epidural steroid injection is at times injected to the patient diagnosed of sciatica, but this treatment does not entirely solve the problem it just offer a momentary relief from pain.
Surgery- if a patient diagnosed of bulging of lumbar or the herniated disc, surgical procedure is required called laminectomy this procedure disconnected a division of the posterior arch to relieve tension on a particular nerve tissue.
